The Chicago School sets sights on the nation’s capital (A proposed D.C. Campus is awaiting approval from the Higher Learning Commission) The Chicago School of Professional Psychology has been granted a license to operate by the Education and Licensing Commission of the District of Columbia (ELC) and has submitted a request to The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC) to extend our institution’s accreditation to include a D.C. location. If approved by HLC, the campus will be included under The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s accredited status, and we will be authorized to enroll students at this new campus located in the heart of the nation’s capital. Few cities or metropolitan areas are better matches for our long-held commitment to working within multicultural communities or to addressing the needs of underserved populations. As we await formal approval from HLC, work is well underway to adapt our powerful learning model—in which students learn from seasoned, practitioner faculty and through a wealth of hands-on learning experiences in diverse and challenging settings—to the unique opportunities that Washington has available. Located just three blocks from the White House, at the center of the political and governmental action, the proposed D.C. campus location provides easy access to the many historical and cultural riches that our capital city has to offer—from national monuments and museums to eclectic dining and shopping to prominent organizations and agencies that can provide unparalleled real-world experiences for the psychology-professional-in-training. The Washington Metropolitan area is served by a robust public transit system, which facilitates travel within the area as well as to and from neighboring areas such as Baltimore and the suburban areas of Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. If approved by HLC as part of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, the Washington D.C. campus will offer both traditional and evening format classes, to accommodate the needs of working professionals |
